I recently opened my own press-on nail shop, and while I was hunting for deals on supplies, I ended up being pulled into the gamified, heavily discounted world of Temu.
Temu is an online marketplace that boasts low prices on a variety of products in just about every category you can imagine. Further adding to its affordability factor is the fact that you can hardly go a few seconds without the app offering you the chance to win coupons for free items and steep discounts. The games are…annoying. You’re guaranteed to win the best prize, as stated in the fine print located at the bottom of every “pick a lucky egg” and “spin the lucky wheel” pop-up. The app also encourages users to make small purchases to “unlock” massive savings.
While the games did not appeal to me, I did end up taking advantage of the low prices in order to snag a few things for my press-on nail business. I set a budget of $50, and I compared the prices to the same (or very similar) items on Amazon to see if I was really getting a deal. Around two weeks later, I received my spoils.

Temu vs Amazon
As a bonus, since I didn’t include screenshots in the video, here is a full comparison of nail art supplies I got on Temu, and those same products on Amazon! The price difference is pretty significant for some, with Temu beating Amazon’s prices in every single category.
Amazon | Temu |
Total: $33.68 | Total: $10.71 |
Total: $29.99 | Total: $9.77 |
Total: $18.35 | Total: $4.29 |
Total: $39.96 | Total: $20.12 |
The Bottom Line
In total, I would have spent $121.98 on Amazon, instead of the $44.89 I spent on Temu. That said, Amazon does have faster shipping times than Temu, and some of the items come with a few more extras. However, if you’re not in a rush, I think it’s worth the wait to save a few dollars and just get what you can from Temu. I only caution you to shop carefully by taking the following steps to ensure you get what you paid for:
- Make sure you carefully read the item descriptions!
- While I didn’t really have any major issues, sometimes what is pictured is not exactly what you’re getting. For instance, you might think you’re getting a great deal on an iPhone 16, but in reality you’re simply ordering a phone case, not the phone itself!
- Try to avoid items that don’t have any reviews.
- Items with little to no reviews are typically a no-go for me unless they’re from an established trustworhy seller.
- Use your best judgment
- If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
- While I don’t mind getting smaller supplies from Temu, I would probably avoid getting anything that is chemically regulated or could otherwise contain questionable or unknown ingredients. That goes for any website, not just Temu!
Ultimately, while this was entertaining and tickled the part of my brain that likes to make comparisons and charts, I’ll likely just stick to sharing more artistic content. Something about doing hauls in the current climate makes me feel a bit icky, but I promised myself I wouldn’t keep filming and deleting content rather than sharing, so here we are! Moving forward, I want to focus on my creations rather than showcasing products (barring something amazing and helpful that I genuinely want to share). Soooo, yeah! That’s it for now! I look forward to trying out these goodies and sharing my nail art with y’all! If you’re interested in ordering nails from me, check out my shop: DeLaDoll.MyShopify.com
